He Made Me A Mistress…Part 1

I can’t lie, there were signs but I had no proof of his marriage. I asked many times, he denied it every single time. We met online in June 2009. A friendship began which soon became more after a couple of months. My first visit to New Orleans was at the end of August 2009. We’d planned to celebrate my birthday while I was there. He paid for everything…including my very nice hotel room on the Westbank. I’m sure he had no intentions of eventually feeling the way that he did about me. There were countless hours of conversation. I had no reason not to believe everything he told me. He was forthcoming about his “ex” as it pertained to her cheating and the reasons why they broke up a few years prior to us meeting. He also shared with me that they owned a home together but he didn’t live there. His reasoning was that they (his wife) didn’t have a child support order in place and his son lives there so he continued to pay on the mortgage. I bet you’re wondering where he told me he lived? He’s a captain on a tug boat, typically away on the boat two weeks out of the month. He told me he lived with his mom. He said there was no reason for him to pay rent somewhere else when he’s gone half the month sometimes more. I had no reason to question it. At that time we talked a lot when he was home and when he was at work.

I went to New Orleans 3-4 times before I relocated to Houston. He never came to Seattle while I was there. His reasoning…he was afraid to fly. I understand this is a real fear for some folk and I loved flying so it was a non factor for me. During our “relationship” I relocated to Houston on February 15, 2011. He drove to Houston the following weekend to see me after I arrived. I was happy. We were closer so I assumed I’d see him more often and I did. I’m sure you can imagine my shock and surprise when he flew to Vegas for a business opportunity…after I had moved to Texas. I was pissed and let him know it. Hindsight is 20/20 and I’m sure he wouldn’t have been able to explain a trip to Seattle.

Everything was good between us, until a “people you may know” picture came across my Facebook feed. Here he was in a photo with another woman as her profile picture. That was February 2012.

To be continued….
